Teotihuacan
Teotihuacan was the largest city in the Americas in the first half of the 1st millennium AD. It´s name means "place of those who have the road of the gods", and it also used to refer to the civilization that used this city as they center. The city is located in what is now the San Juan Teotihuacán municipality in the State of México, Mexico, approximately 25 miles NE of Mexico City. It covers a total surface area of 83 km² and was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
The name was given by the Nahuatl speaking Aztec, centuries after this city fell, and the term has been glossed as "birthplace of the gods" based on the Nahua creation myths.
The original name of the city is unknown, but hieroglyphic texts from the Maya region, list it as "Puh" or Place of Reeds.
