Cenotes

Cenote Cenote is the name given to a type of freshwater filled limestone sinkhole in Central America and Mexico, and this name comes from the Mayan word dz'onot. You can find several cenotes in Yucatan and in Quintana Roo, even Chichén Itzá was built around a cluster of these natural wells, and they had different uses, like the Cenote of Sacrifice, used for Mayan rites.
